Course Description

This course focuses on introducing students to the fundamental concepts of emergency nursing. Objectives will build on entry-to-practice knowledge to foster development of comprehensive nursing care for ill patients who require emergency care or injured clients across the lifespan. Major concepts explored in this course are: The Canadian Triage Assessment score; the physical and social aspects of the workplace environment; professional and therapeutic communication skills; and interprofessional practice. Legal and ethical government and regulatory standards, codes of conduct, and best practice guidelines are incorporated into all learning activities to build a strong understanding of the requirements for practice in this specialty area. This course is delivered fully online.
